RAY ANDERSON / INTERFACE

Ray Anderson was the founder (1973) and chairman of Interface Inc., one of the world's largest manufacturers of carpet tile. He began his quest to become a more environmentally responsible business owner in 1994 after reading the book The Ecology of Commerce by Paul Hawken. Since that pivotal point Ray & Interface began a journey in reforming their manufacturing processes, working towards "Mission Zero". More specifically, Interface's goal is to eliminate any negative impact the company may have on the environment by 2020. Interface is more than 50% towards achieving that goal.

  1. I will read Paul Hawkens, Ecology of commerce. I did not know anything and still do not know anything about Ray until now. But what I can gather just from the youtube vid is that he is big wig business guy and found a need to change. I think it is the perfect role model because it would be big business's...corporations that need to change first. Of course we would do well to get the citezens on board, But it is corporations, the ones making our cars, our carpets our appliances. When they change the average citizens will fall into line.
